Biolub-CO2
REFINING BIOLUBRICANTS USING CO2
DESCRIPTION
The biolub-CO2 technology uses liquefied carbon dioxide (CO2) to refine and purify synthetic lubricants, particularly biolubricants. This continuous process includes a separation stage in which specific components are removed from the biolubricant, increasing the base’s viscosity and resulting in a product with excellent properties.
APPLICATIONS
Refining and Purification of Synthetic Lubricants, Biolubricants, and High-Viscosity Fluids.
ADVANTAGES
It use industrially captured CO2 as the solvent in the process. Low energy consumption is achieved, operating at temperatures between 25 and 80 °C. The process operates at moderate pressures (60 to 80 bar). CO2 is inert with respect to the product, preserving its qualities and leaving no residue in the lubricant. It allows for the recycling of extracted raw materials or the production of secondary products.
• Use of captured CO2: Utilizes CO2 sourced from industrial processes, offering a sustainable approach aligned with carbon capture practices.
• Low energy consumption: Operates efficiently within a controlled temperature range of 25 to 80 °C, reducing both energy and environmental costs.
• Moderate process conditions: Operates at pressures between 60 and 80 bar, avoiding extreme pressure levels, simplifying implementation, and reducing infrastructure investment.
• Compatibility and purity: CO2 is inert and leaves no residues in the final product, preserving the lubricant’s quality and original properties.
• Added value: Enables the recycling of extracted raw materials and the production of secondary products, enhancing the value and versatility of the process.
