IR interferometer
THERMO SCIENTIFIC – NICOLET 6700
DESCRIPTION
Fourier transform infrared spectrometer, built around a Michelson interferometer with continuous dynamic alignment. It records the vibrational spectrum of solids, liquids and gases in order to identify functional groups and follow structural changes in the material.
MAIN FEATURES
- Interferometer: aluminium Michelson Vectra, with continuous dynamic alignment and self-adjustment
- Spectral range: 7800-350 cm?¹ with KBr beamsplitter
- Configurability: accepts near IR, far IR and UV-visible by changing beamsplitter and detector
MAIN APPLICATIONS
- Identification of functional groups in catalysts, supports and reaction products
- Determination of Brønsted and Lewis surface acidity by adsorption of probe molecules (pyridine, CO)
- Monitoring of adsorbed species and reaction intermediates
