Chemical Reactor Engineering

CHEMICAL REACTION ENGINEERING

DESCRIPTION

The course is focused on design, operation and optimization of chemical reactors where homogeneous and heterogeneous reactions take place. The design equations for continuous and batch reactors are discussed, both for single and multiple reactions. The influence of different design parameters on selectivity and/or yield of the desired product is analyzed. The interfacial and intraparticle mass and heat transfer phenomena are studied. Heat effects for industrial scale reactors are also analyzed in detail: parametric sensitivity, steady-state multiplicity, autothermal reactors, etc. Different catalytic systems are considered: fixed-bed, monolithic, microreactors  and membrane reactors, among others.

TARGET AUDIENCE

Engineers and technical personnel of chemical, petrochemical, fertilizer and food industries, among others.
