Cryo ultra-microtomy

ULTRA THIN CUTS OF POLYMERIC SAMPLES UNDER CRYO CONDITIONS FOR MICROSCOPY ANALYSIS

DESCRIPTION

Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM) requires the preparation of ultra thin sample sections a few nanometers thick. To accomplish this, soft polymeric samples must be cooled to subambient temperatures before being cut. Such conditions require expertise and the use of sophisticated equipment.

AVAILABLE EQUIPMENT:

• Leica Ultracut UCT with low temperature sectioning system Leica EMFCS.

ADVANTAGES

• Accurate control of specimen and chamber temperature
• Diamond knives are available to cut ultrathin sections
• Sectioning down to -175°C

APPLICATIONS

Electron microscopy analysis of polymeric samples.
